Special dietary food registration includes the review of two categories of products: "Formula for certain disease" and "Infant formula and Follow-up infant formula."
- After an applicant submits documents to the TFDA Food Safety Division, a project manager from the CDE handles administrative operations and forms an internal review team to conduct the review according to the standard operating procedures for special dietary food registration review.
- Initial document review: The CDE reviews the completeness, correctness, and consistency of the documents submitted by the applicant, including the applicant's information, product packaging labels and instructions, and the food safety of product ingredients.
- Review committee meeting: Meetings are held as needed based on the case review requirements.
- Result interpretation and consolidation: The CDE comprehensively evaluates the results of product analysis and label packaging review, consolidates the relevant documents, and submits them to the TFDA for the final decision. The Ministry of Health and Welfare then issues a permit or rejection notice to the applicant.
