The Ministry of Health and Welfare commissions the Center for Drug Evaluation (CDE) to carry out health food registration reviews. To promote the upgrade and development of the domestic health food industry, professional technical review teams in food safety, hygiene, and nutrition have been formed. These teams, together with the Health Food Review Committee members, perform a two-stage review process (preliminary and secondary reviews). A consultation mechanism has been established to assist the industry in filling regulatory and scientific gaps, communicating with the TFDA, and enhancing their regulatory knowledge. The CDE works as a bridge between the government and the industry.
