The International Network of Agencies for Health Technology Assessment (INAHTA), established in 1993, is a non-profit alliance of international organizations involved in health technology assessment. It currently comprises 52 members from 32 countries, all of which are non-profit organizations funded by public funds and linked with regional or national governments. Through collaboration and information sharing, INAHTA is committed to producing and disseminating HTA reports for use in evidence-based decision-making processes by relevant entities. The Center for Drug Evaluation (CDE) has represented as a member of the INAHTA’s Board of Directors since April 2016 for two terms, participating in shaping INAHTA's future directions and planning work allocations. At these meetings, we shared our current status and research outcomes in HTA implementation.

2023

The 2023 INAHTA conference was conducted both in-person and online under the theme "Innovating Practice in HTA," spanning two days of discussions:

  • The first day featured Ice-breaker activities through table/group discussions, focusing on topics related to how various HTA organizations can utilize or influence discussions from recent HTAi annual meetings. It also celebrated INAHTA's 30th anniversary, inviting organizations to share anecdotes and reflections from over the years.
  • The second day centered around "Real world evidence (RWE) and pathways to fast-track innovation while minimizing risk." Director Li-Ying Huang served as the facilitator for the small group discussions, assisting in guiding the discussions.

2022

The theme of the 2022 INAHTA conference was "Exchanging Solutions in A Changing Environment," spanning two days of discussions:

  • The first day focused on "Interactions between Guideline and HTA Communities - What Can We Learn from Guidelines and Vice Versa?"
  • The second day centered around "Moving towards an INAHTA Position Statement on Real World Evidence," particularly addressing the use of real-world evidence (RWE). Topics included how HTA organizations across countries collect, assess the quality of, and analyze RWE data. Through sharing experiences and collaborative learning among members, the conference aimed to collectively address and resolve future challenges.

2021

In the 2021 INAHTA conference, Director Li-Ying Huang shared the CDE/HTA impact story during the annual meeting and was voted among the top three out of over 40 member organizations. She presented and shared insights on September 21st, and the related information has been published on the official INAHTA website. Participation in HTAi annual meetings and INAHTA conferences allows for an understanding of the latest international developments and focal points in health technology assessment (HTA). Through international exchanges, including discussions on comparative effectiveness and economic evaluation models, patient engagement, challenges, and corresponding strategies, Taiwan's HTA practices can be optimized. By serving as a speaker and panelist at relevant seminars, sharing Taiwan's experiences in HTA, visibility and recognition of Taiwan's HTA capabilities can be enhanced.
